My Favourite Temples.

In this post iam going to write about the most favourite temple of mine.
You have guessed it right!
I t is the most famous temple in Tamil Nadu.
It is Sri Kalyana Sundarareswarar Temple, Nallur, Tamil Nadu, India.
Of the many highlights & unique features of this 2300years old Temple, probably the Most Amazing is the main deity:The Moolavar-Lord Shiva(who is also called 'Panchavarneswarar'), (a Suyambu (self-formed) lingam) who changes colour 5 times a day, daily !From sunrise to sunset, the colour of the top portion of the lingam changes every 2.5 hours as follows:
6AM to 8:24AM - Copper colour
8:25AM to 10:48AM - Light Red (almost orange)
10:49AM to 1:12PM - Molten Gold
1:13PM to 3:36PM - Emerald green
3:37PM to 6PM - A colour the Devotee has in-mind and wants to see.
This temple is famous for this and it is also for jathaga thosham. This temple is open throughout the day and one can visit the nearby temples along with this one.
It brings peace and happiness to the devotees.
Devotees can visit the temple and be in the temple from morning to evening. A nice way to spend your weekend as well.

  2. Dear Asha Perima you said that the Lingam changes to the color of what a person is thinking of. What if countless number of people are thinking of different colors?

  5. Also, I read that the temple's Pushkarni, "Saptasaagaram," has powerful medical value and is effective in curing diseases from the body. I assume the devi at the temple goes by the name Meenakshi?
